The secluded Braes of Glenlivet were home the over 200 illicit whisky stills during the 18th century.
Now it is an ideal place to get closer to some of our local wildlife. Red Deer, Mountain Hare and Red Grouse are frequently seen amongst the heather whilst Salmon spawn along the Livet in large numbers during late autumn.
At the eastern end of the Braes lies Scalan – The “Forbidden College” of 18th century Scottish Roman Catholics. |
