Drumin Castle was granted to Alexander Stewart – The Wolf of Badenoch – by his father King Robert II in 1372.
“The Wolf” was well known for his bad temper. He is best remembered for sacking and burning Elgin Cathedral as part of a long term feud with the Bishop of Moray.
Situated on a ridge above the River Avon, Drumin Castle occupies a natural strategic site. A short distance to the east lies The Glenlivet – the first legal distillery in the Highlands. |
